CM holds review meet with department heads

DIBRUGARH, June 19 - In a significant move, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed all department heads to make public the names of all contractors engaged in construction of National Highways and other government department works. Sonowal passed the directive during a review meeting with all the department heads of the district at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner here yesterday evening, a release stated.

The Chief Minister asked the education department to frequently inspect schools and regularly hold interactions with the children and guardians. Similarly, he also asked the officials of the Food and Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department to move out to the markets and on a regular basis in order to check the quality of goods.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister sought to know about the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Krishak Samman Nidhi Yojana as to how many had benefited from the scheme. Sonowal asked the department officials concerned to fix a time-frame for the issue of land holding certificates so that maximum number of people availed the benefit under the scheme.

The Chief Minister also inquired about Ayushman Bharat and Atal Amrit Yojana schemes; whether patients were really benefiting out of these schemes, especially from the empanelled hospitals. He asked the Joint Director of Health to review the implementation of these schemes in hospitals every 15 days. Among several others, Sonowal further asked about the implementation of various schemes in tea gardens and other areas like Saubhagya Scheme, Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Bridha Pension scheme and other schemes of Social Welfare Department.

The meeting was attended by MLAs Prasanta Phukan, Vinod Hazarika, Rituparna Baruah, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, Superintendent of Police Subashini Sankaran and Vice Chairman of Assam State Housing Board Subhas Dutta, the release added.
