CM hands over 50,000 masks for tea garden workers in Udalguri

UDALGURI, April 18 - �The State government would like to thank the people of Assam for abiding by the nationwide lockdown rules and contributing a lot in saving the lives of people.� These were the words of gratitude that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed here today.

The Chief Minister, who was here today to take stock of the situation arising out of COVID-19 spread, expressed his satisfaction after vising the Sonaigaon Quarantine Centre and said that the State government was taking all pains to end the pandemic in Assam and hoped that the positive response of people of Assam would surely yield a very positive result and Assam would be declared as a corona-free State very soon.

Sonowal also handed over 50,000 masks meant for the tea garden workers of the district, who haver already started plucking tea leaves while maintaining social distancing norms.

The Chief Minister also informed that he had already talked to a number of Chief Ministers regarding the safety of the Assamese peopke living in those respective States and said that the State government has undertaken measures for the safety of all people who came to the state before the lockdown period.

The Chief Minister also held a close meeting with the Udalguri district administration accompanied by by Rihon Daimari, StatePHE minister, who is also in-charge of Udalguri and Baksa districts.
