DIBRUGARH, July 8 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today attended the Subha Baruah Educational Merit award distribution ceremony of the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council (SKAC) at Bishnu Prasad Rabha Rangmancha in Dibrugarh University here.
The awards are an annual scholarship distribution programme of the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council and are given away to the meritorious HSLC and HS-passed students residing within the demarcated constituencies of the Sonowal Kachari autonomous council areas, and belong to the Sonowal Kachari community.
Among some 998 meritorious students, Shruti Sonowal, who secured 5th rank in Higher Secondary examination 2019 from Arts stream received a special award from the Chief Minister. She was given an appreciation letter and a cheque of rupees one lakh. The students who secured 60% to 84.99% were given away scholarships of Rs 10,000 and those who obtained 85% and above received scholarships of Rs 20,000.
Sonowal said that students ought to be determined, disciplined and dedicated in pursuit of success in life. �Persistent hardwork and disciplined lifestyle with dogged spirit can lead anybody to success,� he said.
