CM for women empowerment

BISWANATH CHARIALI, June 27 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said that BJP-led Government has already taken a number of schemes to empower women.

Addressing a Mahila Samaroh at the Kamalakanta Kshetra in Biswanath here, he said that the State Government has already prepared a roadmap to develop the State by empowering women. � We are planning to extend financial help to 1.30 lakh SHGs through the Kanaklata Mahila Sabalikaran Achoni in the State,� the Chief Minister claimed.

He at the same time appealed to the members of the SHGs to make the proper use of the financial grants to bolster their empowerment. Sonowal also said that the State government has given importance to women empowerment because it (government) sincerely believes that empowerment of woman leads to empowerment of a family, which leads to empowerment of society, leading to empowerment of a state and nation. He, therefore, urged upon the women folk to use the grant productively. In this context, he said that many more welfare schemes, especially for the women are in the pipeline as part of the State government�s holistic design of using women power to catapult state�s growth.

He said that the women entrepreneurs who show impressive results in start-up ventures would be sent to the foreign countries by the State government in exposure tours.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarmah while speaking on the occasion said that the State government will empower the SHGs and the financial aid would be increased to the tune of Rs 5 lakh.

MLAs Brindaban Goswami, Promod Borkotoky, Ganesh Limbu, Utpal Bora and Ashok Singhal were present on the occasion.
