CM discusses problems of small tea growers

GUWAHATI, Oct 14 � The small tea growers of the State are now facing a serious problem of sharp fall in the price of the green tea leaf they produce due to the underrating of their produces by the bought-leaf factories and the tea gardens, which use to procure their produces for manufacturing tea.

Meanwhile, In view of this development, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today held a high level meeting with senior officials of the Tea Board at his official chamber here today, said an official press release here.

The Chief Minister directed the Tea Board to ensure proper implementation of Tea Marketing Control Order (TMCO), 2003 to solve the small tea growers� problems. He asked the Department of Industries and Tea Board to have mutual coordination to ensure effective implementation of the TMCO. The Chief Minister also directed the Department of Industries to help and assist the Deputy Commissioners in this regard.
