MORIGAON, Dec 27 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has categorically denied the Opposition�s charges that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act -2019 will harm Assam and the Assamese nationality.
Addressing a huge peace rally at Jagiroad (Kahikuchi), organised by the BJP, AGP and BPF, the Chief Minister said that only a meagre number of foreigners will be given citizenship under CAA-2019.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister said that the BJP governments, both at the Centre and the State will protect the land rights, culture, language etc., of the indigenous people of Assam through the implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord.
The Chief Minister further said that to dispel the misgivings on the CAA, the government will go to the people�s court.
