CM condemns incident

GUWAHATI, June 9 - Taking a serious view of the Karbi Anglong incident in which two talented young artistes of the State were killed, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Mukesh Agarwala to rush to the spot and bring the culprits to book.

The Chief Minister also asked the top police official to carry out an inquiry into the circumstances leading to the killing of the youths. He also asked Karbi Anglong district and police administration to ensure that such type of incidents does not take place again.

Sonowal at the same time expressed his deep condolences over the untimely death of the young artistes and prayed to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed souls.

PTI adds: The leader of the opposition in the State Assembly, Debabrata Saikia condemned the lynching and called it yet another instance of the government�s �utter failure� to maintain law and order. He also demanded a judicial enquiry into the incident.
