CM condemns Chaygaon incident

BARPETA, June 10 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has condemned the incident of misbehaviour towards artistes at Asalpara, Chhaygaon and asserted that accused will be punished. Talking to reporters on the sideline of a programme held on the ocassion of inauguration of a new branch of State Bank of India at Nasatra in Barpeta district, Sonowal said that no civil society can support such an event like the one which happened at Chhaygaon and he unequivocally condemns it.

The Chief Minister informed that the government has already directed the authorities to deal the matter with a strong hand so that no one can escape punishment. He informed that the culprits involved in the incident have already been arrested and every aspect will be investigated thoroughly.

Sonowal reiterated the commitment of his government to protect the diverse culture of the State and warned the evil forces not to destabilise the age-old unity of the state.
