DHEMAJI, May 23 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who arrived at Jonai in Dhemaji district on Saturday, appealed to the citizens to make collective efforts to win the battle against COVID-19 pandemic. He called on the people to bear the brunt of this bad time as the entire world is staging a war against the dreaded virus.
Addressing reporters at Jonai Circuit House on Saturday, Sonowal affirmed that public leaders, including MLAs and MPs of the State, are working to help the people, while the frontline workers are dedicatedly serving the people to ease their suffering.
Sonowal said that his government has taken steps to bring back the stranded people to the State and they are being dispatched to their respective home districts in a systematic manner. He urged the people to obey the rules of public hygiene, besides wearing face masks and maintaining physical distancing as advised by the medical authority.
�Every citizen should work with utmost responsibility in this situation and help the government to fight against COVID-19. There is no other option to contain the virus other than following preventive measures,� Sonowal said, while exuding his hope that local people are capable to win the battle against the virus.
Sonowal also requested the citizens to carry on with their agricultural and other income generation activities amid the unfavourable situation while following the safety rules. He appreciated the untiring efforts of the frontline workers, including medical staffs and police, for containment of the virus.
Sonowal thanked mediapersons for their active role in highlighting and focusing COVID-19 situation.
The Chief Minister earlier visited quarantine centres set up at Murkongselek and Simenchapori Colleges in Jonai subdivision.
