CM, AASAA discuss TE wage issue

GUWAHATI, March 12 � A five-member delegation of the All Adivasi Students� Association of Assam (AASAA) led by its president Raphael Kujur today met Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in the Assembly premises and discussed at length issues related to minimum wage of the tea workers of the State.

In the discussion, the Chief Minister said that the Government was committed to implementing Rs 169 as minimum wage for all unskilled labourers of the State, including tea workers and that the tea companies should not pay anything below the minimum wage.

�Gogoi said that the Government is waiting for the final report of the advisory committee of wage agreement led by Additional Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu and will immediately issue the notification of Rs 169 as State minimum wage,� Kujur said.
