JORHAT, March 21 - The Jorhat District Magistrate Roshni A Korati by an order passed this evening has directed closure of all shopping malls in the district till March 31 next.
However, the order has stated that the shopping malls could sell essential items like grocery during the period. The order also mentioned that weekly haat/bazaars will remain closed during the said period. The steps have been taken to prevent spread of Covid-19.
In an another order, Korati has barred gathering of people at religious institutions like namghars, temples, douls, satras, mosques, guruduwaras, churches for offering daily prayers indefinitely until further orders.
The order mentioned that the restrictions will cover Sunday Mass at churches and Friday Jumma Namaaz.
Any violation of the prohibitions imposed will be dealt sternly as per the existing provisions of law, the order cautioned.
