By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 4 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the Government officials of different departments to dispose of pending files immediately.

At a high-level review meeting held at the conference room at the CMs Block here today, Sonowal asked the officials to clear the pending files immediately in the interest of public service. If there is any problem in clearing any files as per Government rules, the people have the right to know. The officials must ensure that people coming to Dispur do not face any sort of harassment or inconvenience in the process of clearing of pending files, he said.

The Chief Minister also directed the Revenue and Disaster Management Department to conduct a survey of all types of land to get a clear picture of the land status. Underscoring the need for toning up the Assam Accord Implementation Department, Sonowal asked the officials to submit in details the manpower and funds required for infrastructure development.

Sonowal held threadbare discussions with the officials of Char Areas Development and was keen in getting first-hand knowledge on the schemes being implemented by the department for development of char areas.

The Chief Minister asked the Welfare of Minorities and Development Department to initiate steps in right earnest for the Haj pilgrims to ensure a hassle-free pilgrimage. Sonowal also immersed himself in getting first-hand information from officials on the land status in the border areas, border disputes, inter-State borders and international borders.

The Chief Minister exhorted the officials and employees to work wholeheartedly for the welfare of the people. With high hopes and expectations the people have brought this new dispensation to power. It is only when the officials and employees work with utmost sincerity the Government will be able to deliver good governance, he added.

Sonowal categorically pointed out that people-oriented welfare schemes have to roll out from the Chief Ministers Office, or, for that matter, the Assam Secretariat. The Chief Minister emphatically made it clear that backlog files have to be cleared swiftly. PM Narendra Modiji is a workaholic who puts in 18 hours of work every day. If you devote more time while executing your work, I too, will walk the extra mile for the welfare of 3.2 crore people of our State, he said.

Sonowal also reviewed the status of the ongoing schemes and programmes with the heads of different departments.

The meeting was attended, among others, by Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia, DGP Mukesh Sahay, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioner and Secretaries, Secretaries, directors and senior police officials.
