Cleanliness drives in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Sept 26 - Various organisations have undertaken cleanliness drives in different parts of the State capital under the nationwide campaign Swachhta Hi Seva.

The Northeastern Sector (NES) CRPF organised the campaign and cleaned the Polo Market and its surrounding area adjacent to 67 battalion CRPF headquarters here. The campaign was held�on Monday.�

On the occasion, local MLA AL Hek and Prakash D Inspector General, NES CRPF took part in the cleanliness drive. Prakash D said during the occasion that Mahatma Gandhi had vision of a �clean India� and so it�s everyone�s duty to keep their homes and surroundings cleans.

The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier too got involved in the campaign and said that a 15-day long Swachh Bharat Abhiyan-Swachhta Hi Sewa along the international border and at its headquarters at Umpling campus here has begun.

The border guards also organised other activities such as community awareness for cleanliness and safe disposal of e-Waste and waste disposal plan

Meanwhile, the District Water and Sanitation Mission in collaboration with the PHE Department organized the campaign at Mattilang Park, Laitmynsaw East Khasi HIlls.
