Cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

GUWAHATI, June 28 - A cleanliness drive under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was carried out by the Kamrup Metro district administration today in association with the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), Kamakhya Temple Management Committee and various non-governmental organisations of the city.

All officials of the DC�s office as well as officials detailed from other districts for the Ambubachi Mela activity, and around 400 officials and personnel from the GMC, Kamakhya Temple Management Committee and various NGOs participated in the drive.

Members of NGOs like Round Table Guwahati, Chapter 239 and 240, Avas Foundation, Bio Fresh, Kamakhya Ambubachi Mela Parisalana Samiti, Impression, Sky Valley and Kamrup Development and Foundation, among others took part in the drive in various parts of the city from 7 am onwards.

Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu inspected the cleanliness activity in the designated areas and also personally took part in drive.

The main drive was conducted in Sonaram playground area, from Kamakhya Railway Station up to Maligaon Chariali, Kamakhya Temple area, Banshi Bagan, Naharbari, Kamakhya foothills and from Kamakhya foothills to Maligaon Chariali.

The district administration is planning to carry out another round of cleanliness drive in the city with involvement of more stakeholders under the aegis of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
