Cleanliness drive in GMCH

GUWAHATI, Oct 15 � The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), as part of the Government�s �Parishkar aru Seuj Sajagata Soptah� has kick-started the cleanliness drive in and around the hospital premises today involving all sections of employees and business establishments situated inside the hospital boundary.

The cleanliness drive began under the leadership of GMCH superintendent Dr Ramen Talukdar who also had a meeting with the owners and staff members of different business establishments especially tea vendors and medical stores located inside the GMCH premises on the issue of maintaining cleanliness and urged them to maintain cleanliness.

The existing team of cleaners in GMCH besides staff members and employees of the GMCH were also apprised about the mission.

�The drive started from the open space near my office and will continue not just during the week but throughout the year. The tea vendors who are the major source of litter in the GMCH campus has committed to extend full cooperation in maintaining hygiene,� Dr Talukdar said.

�The thrust has always been on the maintaining cleanliness and this time we will try to impress upon the business establishments also to maintain the same. We would ensure that there is no stagnant water which goes on to emerge as the breeding centres for various diseases,� he added.
