GUWAHATI, June 14 - A cleanliness drive was today carried out by NDRF personnel in the Kamakhya temple premises here ahead of the grand Ambubachi festival.
Altogether 40 NDRF personnel cleaned the entire stretch of the road from the Bogola Mandir to the Kamakhya temple, dispensary and parking area as well as the playground behind the dispensary. Garbage, plastic waste, dry leaves, etc, were cleared during the exercise.
During the campaign, NDRF personnel generated awareness among devotees, visitors and sadhus on cleanliness and proper waste disposal with an aim to intensify the focus on cleanliness. The 1st Battalion of NDRF generated massive public awareness in the area to ensure participation of the local community in the campaign.
