Clean and Green Village Mission launched in Hailakandi

HAILAKANDI, Feb 21 - �Clean and Green Village� Mission, a new initiative of the State Government,

was launched in Hailakandi district on Wednesday.

The inaugural event at Paikan village under 6 Hailakandi Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) was organised under the MyGov Assam initiative in association with the zila parishad, Hailakandi, Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, Environment and Forest department, Agriculture department, district administration and other stakeholders.

Saplings were distributed among the people on the occasion. Local villagers took part in the programme with the promise of carrying forward the mission.

Participating in the programme, chief executive officer (CEO) of zila parishad, NKSK Singha appealed to the people to preserve flora and fauna. He said a pollution-free and green environment is essential for the people to live in. Singha said similar programme will be organised at Pollarpar village under 8 Algapur LAC on Friday.

Singha is hopeful the clean and green initiative will grow into a movement following which people will witness visible changes in their surroundings.

Stressing on the importance of involving children in the initiative, Singha said, �We encourage our children to come together and bring a positive change in our society and the nature. The children can showcase their green ideas, thoughts, social leadership, innovation, technology and how they can positively transform environment and society. �

Team members of MyGov Assam, who are closely monitoring the progress, appealed to the villagers to complement the efforts of the State Government and the district administration in creating awareness about cleanliness and environmental-related issues.
