KALAIGAON, March 6 Udalguri is a remote district of Assam with majority of population being illiterate due to lack of basic educational infrastructure in remote areas. Sonajuli is a small village near the Indo-Bhutan border where majority of children are deprived of basic education due to limited facilities in the existing schools and colleges.

The Red Horn Gunners deployed for counter-insurgency task in this area rightfully stood for a noble cause of improving the educational infrastructure for a remote school in Sonajuli under Operation Sadbhavana. In an event organised on March 2, the classrooms were inaugurated by Rogain Boro, village headman in presence of 250 students, 150 civilians, including civil officials and distinguished members of the society. The event also included a cultural programme performed by students and youth of the village which received huge accolades.

Speaking on the occasion, N Bhatra, VDP secretary expressed his gratitude towards the efforts taken by the men in olive green for enhancing the educational infrastructure which will help in development of the society in the region.
