Class-X students to sit for exams sans textbook!

By Correspondent

DOOMDOOMA , May 17 - Class-X students under the SEBA course will have to appear in the Social Science subject (English medium) in the half-yearly exams next month without having even seen the book.

It may be mentioned that though SEBA had introduced a new textbook of Social Science in ClassX from the current academic session, it is not available in the market. The textbook has three parts viz., Part-I History, Part-II Geography and Part-III Economics and Political Science.

Since five months of the current academic session are about to pass, the English medium students are suffering a lot due to the textbooks unavailability. Students have already appeared in the first two unit tests and are going to appear in the half-yearly examination in the month of June without the textbook. Moreover, their pre-test examination will also be held in September. Hence, the students, teachers and guardians have urged SEBA and the Assam State Textbook Production and Publication Corporation Limited to take immediate measures to make the Social Science textbook of Class-X available in the market. They have also urged the AASU leadership to put pressure on the Government in this matter.

It may be mentioned here that a few copies of the textbook were made available in the market in February. But that was insufficient and a majority of the students could not purchase it. Moreover, those textbooks were full of printing mistakes, it is alleged.
