Civil society to perform ritual to prevent COVID-19

GUWAHATI, March 25 - In a bid to ward off COVID-19, civil society groups of West Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh is performing the traditional ritual of Ali-Ternam, an official release received here stated. The mass ritual started this evening at Aalo under the initiative of the Galo Welfare Society, Aalo.

Meanwhile, to check the spread of the dreaded virus, the entry points at Gabu near Logum Jini, Patum near Biru, Piggo near Keak, Hill Geko near Nyorak and Essi Tamen will be completely sealed.

A team comprising a magistrate, doctors and policemen have screened 17 jail inmates for COVID-19 and also visited places where people, who recently entered the State, have been quarantined.

Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan is closely monitoring the situation, while SP Jummar Basar is leading the police force in imposing the total lockdown in the district.
