Civil Defence gets new building at Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Oct 22 � The Director General of Civil Defence and Commandant of Home Guards, Dilip Kumar Borah inaugurated the new office building of the Controller of Civil Defence at the Officer�s Colony here on Monday.

The new office building, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 14 lakh from the Central fund, has a conference room, store room and administrative room, besides enough open space for training and demonstration.

Earlier, the affairs of the district Civil Defence were managed from one of the allotted rooms in the office building of the Deputy Commissioner�s establishment.

The inaugural function was attended among other by the Superintendent of Police, Rana Bhuyan, Additional Deputy Commissioners PK Rajkhowa and LN Gogoi. The function was anchored by the Deputy Controller of District Civil Defence, Dipak Kumar Changmai.

The Civil Defence was originally organised to provide service and aid to the war casualties. But presently, the Civil Defence engages its personnel and volunteers to provide services like rescue, relief and first aid medical services during both natural and man-made disasters.
