SILCHAR, Sept 7 - At a time when the city of Silchar is grappling with the burgeoning traffic congestion, the chairman of Silchar Municipal Board, NN Tagore announced that as per the poll promise made to the electorate of the second biggest urban sprawl in the State, three places have been selected for the construction of a much-needed flyover in the city.
�In the 2015 civic polls, we had promised the people of Silchar that once we are voted to power, we shall do everything possible to come up with a plausible solution to the road traffic menace. Three places have been marked at Rabindranath Rotary, Swami Vivekananda Rotary and Netaji Subash Rotary for the flyover,� Tagore said.
NN Tagore visited the Rabindranath Rotary point at Tarapur recently along with Piyush Agarwal, executive director of Civil Baba Infra Consultancy, which has been assigned to prepare the DPR for the construction of the flyover.
�The construction firm has six months to prepare the DPR for the construction of the flyover at Rabindranath Rotary point,� Tagore said.
On the other hand, Piyush Agarwal said that this was a visit for a recce. A team of the firm will visit for a proper survey following which construction of the flyover at this point shall get under way, he added.
