City to host school games archery

GUWAHATI, Jan 20 � The Diroctorate of Sports, Assam, will host the archery championship of the 60th National School Games at the Maulana Md Tayabulla Hockey Stadium here from January 21 to 24.

The championship will be organised under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India.

Informing about the four-day championship, Jatin Borchetia, Deputy Director, Sports said in a press conference that altogether 536 archers from 24 States will vie for titles in boys and girls U-17 and U-19 categories.

The organisers have already completed all arrangements for holding the meet which they claimed to a mega event. Assistant Director Mustaba Pear and Assam Archery Association president Jayanta Boro were also present in the press conference and described about various aspects of the meet and the possibility of Assam archers. They are hopeful that Assam will do well in the meet as all the archers are in fine shape and having their practice at the SAI centre.
