By Sports Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 7 The first ever international friendly football match in the entire northeaster region will be held at the Sarusajai stadium here on November 13.

National teams of India and Malaysia will be seen in action in that match which has been recognised by FIFA.

Disclosing this in a press conference here today, Assam Football Association (AFA) secretary Ankur Dutta said the match will be counted as preparation of Indian team for the forthcoming SAF Games. The other match of the two-game friendly series will be played at Kolkata on October 16. The teams will arrive here two days before the match, informed Dutta.

The AFA secretary, however, is expressing his concern over the ground condition as it is at present in a deplorable condition. He said a team of AFA officials yesterday met Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to apprise him about the match. Dutta said that the Chief Minister has instructed the Sports Minister to take necessary step so that the ground could be prepared properly for the match.

A team of All India Football Federation will visit the stadium to take stock of the situation and if the team is not satisfied with the condition Assam may lose the right of hosting the international friendly.

Assam Club meet at Nagaon: The Assam Club Championship has been allotted to Nagaon and the meet will be held in February, informed AFA secretary.
