City to host AITA tourneys

GUWAHATI, June 8 - The AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament for boys and girls U-12 and 14 years age group will start from June 12 at the All Assam Tennis Association (AATA) Complex, Chachal here.

This All India Tennis Association sanctioned tournament will be organised by the AATA. Around 150 players from different parts of the country are expected to take part in this ranking tournament.

Kristi Boro of Assam will be the top seed in the girls U-14 event while Kritanta Sarma also from Assam will be the top seed in the boys U-14 category. Another Assam boy Andy Thaosen will be the second seed in the boys U-12 event. Along with the singles event, doubles will also be played among the main draw players.

The qualifying rounds of the tournament will be held on June 10 and 11. The finals of the tournament are slated for June 16.

Bedanta Buragohain of Assam will be the Chief Referee of the tournament. This tournament will be followed by another AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament for boys and girls U-16 and 18 years from June 19, this was stated in a AATA press release.
