City school students come second in int�l contest on sustainable development

GUWAHATI, May 9 - Three students of Royal Global School; Aman Bhuyan, Aditya Gautam Mazindar Baruah and Bonoto Achumi participated in the �La Vie en Green� along with three students of Ren� Descartes School, France; Vazeille Nina, Vechambre Antoine and Walilko L�a, under the guidance of their teacher coordinators Suman Bhuyan and Hani Ramade respectively, and were awarded the second prize, according to a press release issued here today.

�La Vie en Green� was the first international competition on sustainable development launched by the French Institute in India (IFI) during the last week of March 2019.

The competition was held among school students of grades 10 and 11 from India, France, Morocco and Ivory Coast with the objective to increase awareness about sustainable development and to promote exchanges between students. The event saw the participation of 17 teams, with each team comprising students from 2 different schools.

While the competition was mainly aimed at fostering good relations between the participating countries, it was marked by a vibrant community of youngsters interacting, discussing, negotiating and exchanging ideas regarding the different notions and aspects of sustainable development.

It acted as a medium for active learning coupled with the objective to familiarise the youths with the issues of sustainable development and to take the youngsters into the dimensions of scientific development.
