GUWAHATI, May 21 � The Joint Director of Health Services, Kamrup Metro, has issued a showcause notice to city-based Midland Hospital for violation of provisions of the Assam Health Establishment Act, 1993 and Rules, 1996.
In an official statement, the district administration said that following direction of Dr M Angamuthu, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro, a team of officials led by F Ahmed, Additional DC, and G Kalita, Joint Director of Health Services of Kamrup Metro, conducted an inspection of the hospital on May 17 last.
It said that the inspection team detected some anomalies in the hospital �like rates of different services are not displayed in public domain, it does not have a morgue, does not have the adequate number of doctors and nurses at par with bed strength, and lacks adequate parking space, etc.�
�Moreover, the team witnessed a serious violation since the hospital has been conducting operations of patients of urology without having the adequate sanction for that department in that hospital. Witnessing the serious violation of the provisions of the Health Services Act, the Joint Director of Health Service has issued a showcause notice to the hospital giving it seven days to reply,� it said. The hospital has also been ordered not to perform any kind of operation for which they are not authorised.
