City college awarded for service under Swachh Bharat prog

GUWAHATI, June 29 - City�s Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College has won the best college team award in Kamrup Metro for participating in and rendering 100-hour service in Panikhaiti village under �Swachh Bharat Summer Internship 2018� programme.

According to a press release, the award was given away at a programme organised by the Kamrup (M) district administration in the college auditorium today.

Altogether 25 students of the college�s NSS unit under the supervision of Dr Nurul Islam, the NSS Programme Officer of the college, took part in the summer internship programme. The award consists of Rs 15,000 in cash and a certificate of appreciation.

The award function was attended by DK Baruah, Executive Engineer PHED and Member Secretary of Kamrup Metro District Water and Sanitation Committee; Prakash Haloi, SDO, PHED and many other dignitaries, teachers and students.

The programme was organised under the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Govt of India. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sikhamoni Konwar, Principal of the college, said such prestigious awards would boost the morale of the students and teachers and act as a propeller in the college�s efforts to serve society.
