GUWAHATI, Nov 9 - Various organisations of Assam on Saturday welcomed the Supreme Court verdict on the Ayodhya dispute, thanking the judiciary for putting an end to the decades-long problem in an amicable manner.

Its a historic day for the people and their faith over the judiciary has been strengthened by this decision. SGBG general secretary Kailash Sarma said the verdict has proved that the judiciary always maintains a neutral stand and takes decisions impartially on the basis of facts and evidence.

The SGBG also congratulated the parties who fought for justice and thanked Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and all the other judges.

DN Chakravartty, president of the Guwahati Senior Citizens Association and Journalists Association of Assam, has written a letter to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, requesting him to confer the title of Assam Ratna to Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi in recognition of his historic judgment and ending the long-pending dispute.
