GANGTOK, Nov 20 - A Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) delegation led by Naresh Agarwal, called on Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang at Samman Bhawan here this evening.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister hoped that the CII would assist the State Government in processing and packaging organic products of Sikkim, which would help the State carve out a niche in the domestic market.
Tamang also stressed on tapping the eastern Asian market and produce goods that are in demand in those countries.
The discussion mostly revolved around how the CII can cooperate with the Sikkim Government in promoting development which, in turn, would generate employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister said another area in which the CII could help the State Government is by promoting homestays in tandem with the State Tourism Department.
The CII delegation also discussed in detail their involvement in honing the skills of Sikkimese youth to make them better skilled and ready for the job opportunities available outside the State.
