CID summons APS officer in SI recruitment scam

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 12 - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today summoned senior Assam Police Service (APS) officer Kumar Sanjit Krishna, in connection with the Sub Inspector recruitment scam in the Assam Police.

Sanjit Krishna, who was posted as the Superintendant of Police, Karimganj, was on Sunday transferred to Barpeta as the SP, FRRO. His former deputy Prasanta Kumar Dutta, the Additional Superintendent of Police, Karimganj, is also likely to be questioned soon. Several other police officers are under the scanner of the CID.

Meanwhile, another accused was arrested by the investigators from Nalbari today. He has been identified as Pranab Sarma.

Sources informed that Krishna was in touch with those whose links were found in the question paper leak case.

There is a strong case against them and investigators have stumbled upon clues that money too changed hands, sources told this reporter, adding that more big names could be summoned in the next few days.

Krishna visited the CID headquarters this morning where he was questioned for a brief period.

Assam Police top brass, however, is tight-lipped about the role of Krishna in the entire chain of events that led to the question paper leak.

However, sources claim that Krishna and Dutta will be summoned again where they will have to explain their position and role.
