CID grills Akhil Gogoi in missing file case

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, July 26 A team of the CID led by Jagat Borphukan, DSP, questioned Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) secretary Akhil Gogoi at the Nizarapar office of the KMSS for about an hour this afternoon on the sources of his procuring the missing case diaries of Chandmari PS case number 77/1991 and Panbazar PS case number 15/1991.

Gogoi told the CID officers that files were handed over to him at his residence by some people. He was not obliged to inform the Government anything beyond that.

Later, talking to this newspaper, Gogoi said, I will tell the Supreme Court of India and the people of Assam as to how I procured the files. I am in no way bound to tell the police or the CID all such things. He also said that he had refused to answer all other questions of the CID team.

He alleged that the move is undertaken to threaten the KMSS not to proceed further with its anti-corruption campaign. The KMSS meetings are also being disturbed by Congress goons these days, he alleged. If such disturbances continue, the KMSS will launch a massive movement, he warned.
