KOLKATA, Feb 3 (PTI): Chirag United beat Lajong FC 2-0 in their last match of the first leg of the ONGC I-league at Yuva Bharati Krirangan here this evening securing the second spot in league table after Dempo.
Both the goals were scored by striker Joshimar who was adjudged the 'man of the match'.
Lajong put up a good fight in the first half and made some good moves but failed to finish. They got a positive chance to score towards the end of first half but striker Tuboi wasted the opportunity.
Chirag started with renewed vigour after resumption and forged ahead in the 60th minute when a nicely connected defence splitting through was converted by Joshimar (1-0).
Inspired with the goal Chirag kept up their pressure and made sure of their victory 10 minutes later.
