Children�s Day celebrated across the State

GUWAHATI, Nov 14 - Children�s Day was celebrated across the State with a series of programmes organised by children and the district administrations.

In Doomdooma: Along with the rest of the country, Children�s Day was celebrated at Doomdooma. In this connection, various programmes were organised by the educational institutions.

At Modern Academy, a colourful programme was organised. Earlier, the Principal of the school, Prabhat Bikomiya Deori, lit the earthen lamps and paid floral tributes at the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Teachers of the school Wahida Hussain and Nayanmoni Tamuli delivered speeches explaining the significance of the Children�s Day.

In Sivasagar: Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Dr MS Laksmipriya, led a procession of children from historic Shiva Doul on the occasion of Children�s Day today. She also interacted with the children.

In Tezpur: The district administration and various educational institutions celebrated the Children�s Day with a day-long programme.

In the morning, a marathon run was organized from Church Field to Hazarapar stadium to create awareness on the benefits of sports among the people. The event was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Manavendra Pratap Singh which saw participation of students and senior citizens too.

In Bongaigaon: Bongagaon District Judicial Court�s District and Sessions Judge Binod Kumar Chetry and Bongagaon District Legal Services Authority�s Secretary C P Talukdar interacted with orphan children, distributed warm clothes and sweets at �Prerana Children Home� at Barsangaon near the town to mark the celebration of Children�s Day.

In Nagaon: A series of programmes was organised on the occasion of Children�s Day here today. Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nagaon observed the day as its foundation day with several programmes. A cleanliness drive was also conducted early in the morning following which flag was hoisted by Rupak Sarma, MLA.

Authority of District Legal Services, Nagaon in association with the volunteer organization �Ashar Kiron� also observed the day with various programmes at Kathiatoli Girls� Primary School.
