IMPHAL, July 1 - A five year-old girl was reported dead near Churachandpur town in Manipur following heavy rain and flash flood in the low-lying areas of the hill town on Friday, reports said.
The incident occurred when Tingpaklian(5) slipped into an overflowing drain next to their house around 1.30 pm today, source said.
The heavy rain that hit parts of the hill district left many areas under knee deep water. Many houses were inundated at Rengkai.
Flood waters also entered some localities along the banks of Lanva river, Lailam stream, Chiengkon stream, and other rivulets that are running across the town.
