GUWAHATI, June 27 � Chief Secretary Vinod Kumar Pipersenia today visited the Jalukbari site of the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Memorial and took stock of the progress of the construction work there.
According to an official press release here, the Chief Secretary expressed satisfaction over the progress of works at the site and requested the Public Works Department (PWD) to complete the works by October 2, 2015.
He also laid stress on beautification and landscaping and directed the authorities concerned to ensure proper plantation of indigenous species of trees in the memorial campus to enhance the overall ambience and aesthetic beauty of the compound.
Architect Gautam Barua briefed the Chief Secretary on the interior works proposed to be undertaken to make the memorial attractive from all aspects.
Commissioner and Special Secretary PWD (Building and National Highway), Commissioner and Special Secretary PWD (Roads), Commissioner and Secretary Cultural Affairs Department, Director of Cultural Affairs and other officials of the PWD and the Cultural Affairs Department were also present during the visit of the Chief Secretary to the site.
