Chief Secretary for State Museum upgradation

GUWAHATI, June 21 � State Chief Secretary Vinod Kr Pipersenia paid a visit to the Assam State Museum along with Addl Chief Secretary VB Pyarelal on June 20. The Chief Secretary went round the various galleries and appreciated the artifacts displayed. He expressed that more can be done to upgrade the museum.

Later, the Chief Secretary sat for a discussion in the Director�s conference room, attended by the Addl Chief Secretary, the Commissioner & Secretary Cultural Affairs Department, the Director of Museums, the Deputy Secretary and officers of the museum.

Among various issues the Chief Secretary emphasised putting culture and heritage at the centrestage for development and peace. He further suggested a number of steps that can be taken to make the State Museum a state-of-the-art world class museum.

Preetom Saikia, Commissioner & Secretary Cultural Affairs Department and Director of Museums YS Wunglengton also related the challenges faced by the museum sector, to which the Chief Secretary gave a patient hearing and assured of all support for the betterment of the museum. This was stated in a press release.
