JORHAT, April 30 After examining various documents, the Chief Ministers Vigilance Cell today registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, for investigation into the alleged fake and doubtful appointment of several employees in hospitals and many offices of the State Health and Family Welfare department in Jorhat.
Since the last part of 2014, the Vigilance Cell had started scrutinising the documents of appointment of over 80 employees in the government offices and establishments in the district as their appointments were found to be fake and doubtful by a screening panel constituted by the Jorhat district administration.
The 12-member screening panel detected the involvement of the Health and Family departments officials in the cases. On the basis of the findings and suggestions of the panel, the district administration ordered the employees to refrain from their official duties besides holding over their monthly salaries until and unless the superior authority of the State Health and Family Welfare department does not confirm their appointments in those particular positions, where their earlier appointment were detected either as fake or doubtful.
It was alleged that over Rs 15 crore was disbursed illegally from the Government's exchequer for the salary of those employees whose appointment was detected to be fake and doubtful in the district.
Considering the gravity of the case of corruption, the Chief Ministers Vigilance Cell started its own investigations into the case.
