NALBARI, Nov 9 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today laid the foundation stones of three new projects, besides inaugurating three completed projects in Nalbari and Barnardi areas of the district.
Sonowal first laid the foundation stone of a four-lane road to be constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated a newly constructed road and a rest house at Barnardi village under Assam Darshan scheme. After returning to the town, Sonowal inaugurated a guest house constructed on the premises of Nalbari Hari Mandir at a cost of Rs 2 crore. He also addressed a public meeting at the same venue.
In his speech, the Chief Minister said the government�s drive against corruption has yielded results. The poor beneficiaries are getting their benefits properly through their bank accounts, he added.
Sonowal further said his government has given top priority for the uplift of the education sector.
Criticising the Congress for its negligence towards the new generation of tea tribe community in the last sixty years, Sonowal added that his government has already started establishing 119 high schools in tea garden areas.
The meeting was addressed among others by Minister of Industries and Commerce Chandra Mohan Patowary, Nalbari MLA Ashok Sarma and a few others.
Later, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones of a modern auditorium and a cultural centre in the district.
