Chetana completes 100 yrs of publication

GUWAHATI, April 30 - Chetana, the monthly journal published and edited by Asam Keshari Ambikagiri Raichoudhury, has completed 100 years of its publication. It was published in 1919. In this connection, Pragjyotish College here has proposed to hold a function on its premises on May 3.

According to a press release, noted litterateur and veteran journalist Homen Bargohain will attend the function as chief guest.

Raichoudhury had jointly edited the first two issues of the monthly journal with noted freedom fighter late Deshapran Chandranath Sarma. The college has so far published seven volumes of the editions of this historic journal, which played a major role in the freedom struggle of the country.

The seventh volume of the editions of the journal would be released at the May 3 function.

The preface to this volume is written by noted scholar Dr Hiren Gohain. The volume is edited by Dr Paramananda Majumdar and he is assisted in editing by Dr Karabi Kherkatari Boro, said the press release.

It needs to be mentioned here that the college is publishing the volumes of the Chetana in association with Ambikagiri Smarak Nyas. The first volume of the editions of the journal was published in December 2016.
