GUWAHATI, Jan 10 � The maiden edition of the Assam Down Town University North East Open Fide Rating Chess Tournament will be held at the Assam Down Town University Auditorium, Panikhaiti, here from January 24 to 28, stated a release.
The tournament will be open to players from Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur, Arunachal, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Sikkim. The total prize-money will be Rs 1,25,000 and the champions will pick Rs 25,000. The tournament has been recognised by the All India Chess Federation and World Chess Federation. International Arbiter Debasish Baruah from West Bengal will be the chief arbiter.
