Chess tourney concludes

GUWAHATI, Nov 4 � South Point School Guwahati Chess Championship concluded today. Altogether 103 players including 24 International rated player of Guwahati participated in this 4-day event. The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Mridul Mahanta, president of Guwahati Chess Association.

Final results: (U-19 boys) Tridev Buragohain become champion by scoring 5.5 points while Lakshya Deep Malakar got second position by scoring 5 points. Bishal Patowary and Panchalya Kashyap got third and fourth positions respectively. (U-17 boys) Nitish Das scored 5 points to claim the title. Uddipta Gogoi second position by scoring 4 points. Mehul Pasari and Punit Basu scored 3 and 2 points respectively and got third and fourth positions. U-15 boys) Amlan Mahanta become champion. He scored 4.5 points. Abhilash Gautam got second position in this category by scoring 3.5 points. Shahil Dey and Prasurjya Das scored 3 points each and declared third and fourth respectively. (U-13 boys) Dhruba Jyoti Deka scored 5.5 points to claim the title. Jigyashdipta Gogoi and Pranit Malhotra scored 5 points each and declared second and third respectively on the basis of tie-break score. (U-11 boys) Manthan Kashyap Datta become champion by scoring 5 points. Dhrupad Kashyap also scored 5 points but was declared second on the basis of tie-break score. Bhabishbnu Pranti Bordoloi got third position by scoring 4.5 points. (U-11 girls) Anchita Sharma claimed the tile by scoring four points. Anoushka Priyam scored 3.5 points and got the second position. Medha Barooah scored 3 points and got the 3rd position. (U-9 boys) Puskar Basak got first position by scoring 4.5 points. Jayaditya Das, Ashvin Sharma and Snehasish Sinha scored 4 points each and got second, third and fourth positions respectively. In the Under-9 Girls category Alseslha Talukdar got first position by scoring 5.5 points. Adreeja Sinha scored 4 points by scoring 4 points. Saanvi Sarkar scored 2 points and got third position. Rajnandini Kalita got fourth position in this category.
