CHENNAI, Jan 16: NorthEast United�s (NEUFC) dismal show continued as they went down 2-0 to hosts Chennaiyin FC here today.
The win takes Owen Coyle�s men to sixth position in the table with 15 points, six off fourth placed Odisha but with a game in hand. NorthEast continue to linger at the ninth position.
After missing a host of chances, mostly from close-range, the hosts managed to score two goals from outside the box to seal the deal against the Highlanders.
The hosts took the lead in the 57th minute through a fine strike from Rafael Crivellaro. The Brazilian had a go from far out on the left flank. Having found NorthEast United custodian Subhasish Roy Chowdhury off his line, Crivellaro found the back of the net with a gem of a goal.
It didn�t take much long for Chennaiyin to increase their lead as Nerijus Valskis from outside the box found the target with a thunderous strike in the 59th minute. � Agencies
