GUWAHATI, March 16 - Chaygaon Press Club emerged champions in the Harendra Nath Baruah Memorial Media Football Tournament, a part of the 11th Topcem ASJA Inter Media Sports Festival organised by the Assam Sports Journalists Association.
In the final of the seven-a-side tournament played at the Nehru Stadium here today, the Chaygaon team trounced News 18 (3-0). Sarbeswar Nath (two) and Bipul Das were the goal scorers for the winning team. Sarbeswar and Niloy Bhattacharyya of News 18 were adjudged the best player of the final and the tournament respectively.
In the closing function, Assam Olympic Association secretary Lakhya Konwar, senior Topcem official Dr Anil Kapoor, trophy donor Rajib Prakash Baruah, AOA vice president Bishnu Ram Nunisa along with a host of sportspersons and organisers were present.
Trophies were presented to the winners in the badminton and table tennis events also.
