Chaturmas Sanmilan of Jain sect under way

AZARA, July 10 - The Chaturmas Sanmilan of Tera Panth Jainism got under way today with the arrival of Jain Sain Acharyashri Mahashraman this morning at Chaturmas Sthal at Garal near the LGBI airport.

The Jain Guru, who stayed at the Gauhati University campus last night, reached the Chaturmas Sthal early this morning. Bimal Nahata, president of the organizing committee, informed that the Archayashri, accompanied by over 100 monks, reached the site at 8 am. The Jain Guru inaugurated the newly constructed Archryshri Mahashraman Research Foundation Bhawan at 8.15 am at the Chaturmas Sthal. Then he was accorded warm felicitation by thousands of Terapanthi Jain devotees coming from different parts of the country.

Nahato added that Acharyashri has come with a mission to spread the messages of nonviolence, harmony, unity, social uplift and anti-drug campaign. He is leading an Ahimsa Yatra and will stay here at the Chaturmas Sthall till November 14, Nahato said.

Acharyashri Mahashraman, the Supreme Head of the Terapanth Jain sect, also addressed the Terapanth devotees in a mammoth gathering and appealed to root out social evils, superstitions and orthodoxies.
