GUWAHATI, June 13 - A new charitable trust by the name Loka Tirtha was inaugurated by Dispur constituency MLA Atul Bora at Khanapara here recently.
The trust has been created in memory of late Kaliram Hazarika and late Kosheswari Hazarika, parents of Dr Mineswar Hazarika, Professor and Head, Department of Livestock and Product Technology, College of Veterinary Science, AAU, Khanapara, who is its founder.
A board of trustees has been formed to work in the broad fields of science and technology, propagation of art and culture, and religion and spirituality.
A seminar was held on the occasion on the theme, �Science, Spirituality and Society - Integration vs Differences�. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hazarika said a building has been set up on the trust premises to lodge patients (belonging to the marginalised section of society) coming for treatment to Guwahati, at a very nominal rate. He also said the trust is working in upper Assam to arrest erosion and the Brahmaputra Board is all set to adopt its erosion control technology.
