NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Dec 24 - The Charikadiya Festival-2015 concluded on Tuesday with an aim to bring together the cultural life of all ethnic communities living on the entire catchment area of the Charikadiya river.

The concluding day�s highlight of the four-day cultural extravaganza was the felicitation of 10 folk artists by the organisers. The felicitated artists were Bapuram Koch, Thaneswar Das, Heera Saikia, Pitambar Baruah, Lohit Lahon, Kamala Saikia, Rajani Nath, Gagan Saikia and Pushpa Pran Phukan. This was followed by an opening session chaired by Sevak Chandra Chutia. Theatre activist and scribe Hillol Kumar Pathak attended the session as the chief guest.

Earlier, the Charikadiya festival was inaugurated on Saturday by hoisting the flag by Kartik Kalita, Sub-Divisional Election Officer, Dhakuwakhona, followed by a plantation programme by Mega Mix Club.

The third day�s festivities began with the Diha Naam competition for women and release of the festival souvenir Charikodiya by academician Shiva Prasad Gogoi. A seminar on intellectual and cultural affairs was organised on the third day.
