SONARI, June 3 - Charaideo district is all set to plant one lakh saplings on June 5, in sync with World Environment Day.
Deputy Commissioner Vivekananda Phukon informed that new saplings would to some extent compensate the dead ones where plantation was conducted on April 1 last. Further, new saplings will be planted in different localities this time.
It may be mentioned that six lakh saplings were planted on April 1 last in Charaideo district, for which Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal appreciated the greening efforts of the district administration.
In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's �Mann Ki Baat,� the district administration will also launch a polythene-free drive from June 5.
