Charaideo dist set for polls

SONARI, March 7 - The Charaideo district administration is gearing up for smooth conduct of Assembly elections on April 4 in 105-Mahmora LAC and 106-Sonari LAC.

There are 1,50,917 (78,666 male and 72,251 female) voters in 105-Mahmora LAC and 1,19,576 (62,227 male and 57,349 female) voters in 106 Sonari LAC.

Soon after the announcement of date of elections, a press meet was organised by Monimala Phukon Borthakur, Deputy Commissioner of Charaideo district at DC�s conference hall.

Addressing mediapersons, Borthakur said that �Samadhan�, �Subidha�, and �Sugam� were introduced as per direction of the Election Commission of India. Through these facilities, general public can lodge any complaint relating to violation of model code of conduct ( MCC) and they will be informed about the action taken in that respect. Political parties can also apply for permission through these facilities.

Gurnail Sing, Election Officer, briefed about the MCC to be followed by the political parties. He said that 160 polling station will be set up in Mahmora LAC, while 200 polling stations will be set up in Sonari LAC.

In Mahmora LAC, 35 polling stations and in Sonari LAC 48 polling stations are identified as sensitive, while 1 polling station in Mahmora and 22 polling station in Sonari are identified as very sensitive. In Sonari LAC, 2 polling stations are identified as critical where 70 per cent polled votes were casted their votes in favour of a single party in last Parliamentary elections, he added.
