Channel on environmental studies

By Correspondent

JALUKBARI, June 3 - The Zoological Society of Assam (ZSA) has announced launch of a YouTube channel on environmental studies on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5. This years World Environment Day theme is Celebrate Biodiversity.

The channel, named ZSA Environment, will feature five to ten-minute videos on key concepts related to environmental studies syllabus of second semester TDC under CBCS course common to Arts, Science and Commerce streams. The videos will be prepared by distinguished teachers from various colleges and universities of Assam.

It is worth mentioning that on March 14 this year, the ZSA had set a precedent in online education in Assam by creating a YouTube channel where teachers from different colleges and universities of the State came together to deliver online lectures in different specialised areas of zoology.

Around 50 videos uploaded on the channel within fifty days of its launch have gathered more than 23,000 views. The channel today has more than 1,400 subscribers benefitting from the online content posted on it as colleges remain shut due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Inspired by the success of the first channel and its popularity among the students of zoology, ZSA has decided to expand the reach of its efforts to a wider audience with the new channel. These videos will be available in both English and Assamese for the convenience of the students.

The ZSA initiative which came out as a means to support students during the COVID-19 crisis, is expected to go a long way in providing high quality online resources to students across Assam and beyond.
